Program Name: Volunteer Work Abroad at an Orphanage in Argentina

Description: You will volunteer work abroad in one of three hogares, homes/orphanages, just outside the city where you will help to create a positive growing environment for the children. The children range in age from infants all the way up to sixteen years old. They are orphans because their parents have died, are in prison or rehab, or have abandoned them. Volunteers are able to positively influence these young lives that have already seen so much hardship.
Your responsibilities will increase the longer you stay working at the Hogar as you will become more familiar with the running of the house. You will assist the staff who work there full-time. Your duties will include: picking the children up from their different schools, helping older children with their homework, and keeping the younger children entertained by playing with them.
Highlights: While you will be an authority figure for the children, perhaps the most important task you have is to be a role model. These children will look up to and respect you because they know that you can help them achieve their goals. The personal connections that you make with each child are just as important, if not more important, than anything else they learn from you. This volunteer work abroad is designed to encourage learning in orphans, so you can be the one helping this goal come true!

Pay/Compensation: volunteer hours
Cost: 640 dollars per month
Spanish classes: 110 dollars (Group lessons, 10 hours per week)
Airport pick up: 60 dollars
Cost Included: Accommodation (shared room) + 2 orientation days, coordination and tutoring.
Cost not included: Flight tickets, medical Insurance, meals.
Living Specifications: Volunteer Guesthouse is offered to all of the Voluntario Global participants. This housing option is great for visitors to enjoy famous Avenida de Mayo, which is located near some of the city's museums and tourist attractions. Homestays and shared apartments are other options offered to participants.
