Description: Have you ever planted any seeds yourself? Have you ever grown flowers? How about vegetables? This is your one-in-a-lifetime voluntary program abroad opportunity to experience a Russian farm land, to find yourself in a shoes of a real farmer who plants, waters and gives other care to the nature on his land. Villages are a great part of the Russian culture and they are very different from American farms. Share this great non-city-experience with the host family of friendly farmers. This is an amazing volunteer abroad opportunity for you to spend your summer among the nature that is waiting for your care and attention. Depending on your accommodation you and your host family can go swim in a lake or river, take a walk in the forest. There is a good opportunity for you to go and pick wild cherry and mushrooms in the forest (please make sure you got instructions about it beforehand). The last week of your stay in Russia can be dedicated to your traveling. The staff can assist you with all the traveling arrangements.
Self-guided research: There is also such an opportunity that your host family may give you a permission do a research on plants in their garden that will certainly benefit you in a professional field and will be interesting for you.
Requirements and Qualifications: A key trait for volunteers abroad in this project is to have patience, creativity, energy and willingness to spend a lot of time outside.

Languages: Basic Russian is welcomed, but if you have never studied Russian before there is an opportunity to take a course of basic Russian before the start of your program. Please let us know in advance, so we could arrange this course for you. An additional fee applies.

Type of work/duties: Work includes planting, weeding, watering, cleaning, assisting the farmers and enjoying the weather!

Living Specifications: We can offer volunteers abroad two types of accommodation here in Nizhny Novgorod. You can stay with one of our selected host families or rent a place to stay. We will be in touch with our interns and your host family during your stay to make sure that you both have a mutually rewarding home stay experience. This is an amazing opportunity for you to practice your Russian and get a deeper feel of the Russian culture and Nizhny Novgorod. But, in case you prefer to live independently we can assist you on renting a good apartment or booking a small hotel with easy access to the project you will work at and to public transportation. The prices and payments schedules may vary from one type of accommodation to another.
