Overview: Kenya, the “Jewel of East Africa,” is a costal country that attracts many tourists every year for a variety of reasons. Kenya has some of the best beaches, rainforests and wildlife found on the entire continent. Healthcare volunteer: El Ghana’s Healthcare volunteer abroad program helps improve healthcare services in Ghana. Preventative measures are one of the main goals of this volunteer abroad program. A lot of different hospitals, clinics, children’s hospitals and other health facilities in Ghana, especially in rural communities, need volunteer abroad help. International volunteers assist and support local doctors and nurses in daily tasks and patient relations. The level of the volunteer abroad participant’s involvement depends on his/her level of skills and expertise.
Because number of patients has been growing in Kenya, a struggle to provide experienced healthcare workers emerged. El Ghana fights this problem by inviting volunteer abroad students to help at these healthcare facilities. Participating in El Ghana Healthcare program, international volunteers have a great opportunity to develop their current skills and learn more about the challenges, problems, and health issues facing developing countries.
El Ghana is looking for pre-med and medical students, as well as healthcare professionals that will help in small village clinics. Volunteer abroad program members will most likely be engaged in recording attendance, pre-natal care, various examinations, patient history, assisting during deliveries, and educating local communities on multiple health related topics.
