Volunteer Abroad in India - Community Development with VSFP

Country: India

Program type: Community Development

Program Type: Volunteer/Language School

Organization: VSFP-India (Voluntary Service For Peace)

Description: VOLUNTARY SERVICE FOR PEACE (VSFP) is an international voluntary youth organization, working for the global peace through voluntary service and youth mobility in India and in Sri Lanka. VSFP has support and networking with international and national organizations to promote cross-cultural voluntary social camps and to create global peace by various activities.

VSFP is a non-profitable, non-religious and non-political organization with independent public funding. We have partners in local and international levels to cooperate with us in the voluntary camps within India and in Sri Lanka. We create positive atmosphere with local communities, under privileged children, Youth, Tribal and Rural people to have direct contact with volunteers and youth from different countries to get exposures about other cultures and values systems.

Highlights: VSFP believes in reciprocal learning through the work made during their stay.  We do not support projects in which volunteers return to their home countries with empty mind and heart after their voluntary services in the projects and in the community.

The volunteers will learn about Indian culture, customs, values, beliefs, life style, day to day life, Indian social institution like marriage, family, caste systems, Indian fine arts, Indian traditional music, and child and women situation in India, Yoga and Ayurveda and rural structures. If you have knowledge about all of the above, your service will be better for the community. Service without learning is just like a charity work. Volunteers are not here to do charity work but they are here to construct the peaceful community in our current world. We believe in 50% work and 50% learning.

We are part of a network of like-minded social organizations that are striving to make peace in the world by encouraging young people to do volunteer service. VSFP sponsors children’s studies in the Salem Project with the volunteer’s work and contribution fee.
