Volunteer Abroad in Ecuador- Street Children Program

Country: Ecuador

Program type: Childcare /Children Assistance

Program Name: Volunteer Abroad in Ecuador- Street Children Program

Highlights: Many Ecuadorian children never have the opportunity to attend school. This is because they must help their families earn a living and many of them work on the streets with their parents 365 days a year. Just to survive, these children, along with their families, must sell goods and perform on the streets of Quito every day. The Street Children Program in Ecuador was founded to bring some relaxation and enjoyment into these children's lives. Activities such as painting or arts and crafts can be very fun and invigorating for these children, who would otherwise never have had a chance to do these things. Some beginning knowledge of Spanish is a requirement for this volunteer abroad opportunity.
