Description: Peabiru Experience is a volunteer abroad program provider, as well as, student travel agency based out of Brazil. International students can get involved in a variety of different projects that we offer. Among them are: volunteer abroad in Brazil, teaching abroad, and language school classes abroad.

Requirements and Qualifications: Our partner projects would benefit from having participants who enjoy working with babies, children and adolescents. Computer, administrative and fund raising skills are also welcome on most of the projects.

Experience: No experience required.

Languages: Basic Portuguese (some specific projects ask for intermediate level of Portuguese).

Volunteer Type: Social Welfare and Education

Age: 18+

Restrictions: none

Pay/Compensation: Make children happier and keep them out of the streets.

Type of work/duties: Most of the times the volunteers are directly involved with the kids helping the teachers to organize the daily activities, meals and re-arranging toys, books, and other materials after used by the kids. Quite often there are some structural improvements going on where the volunteers can also get involved in like, painting and some decoration works.

Cost Included:

  • Pick-up transfer;
  • Cross-cultural orientation;
  • Accommodation during entire program;
  • 15 hours of Portuguese classes;
  • Placement in community service or environmental project;
  • Orientation to volunteer work in Brazil;
  • Ongoing support by local volunteer coordinator;
  • Meals: half-board during entire program when staying with a host family. (lunch must be provided by volunteer).
  • $50/month contribution to the host project.

Living Specifications:  There are two types of accommodation that international volunteers can choose from. Volunteers can stay with a host family, or they can rent an apartment. Host families are very loving and welcoming people, Peabiru Experience will ensure that everybody stays happy. Host family accommodation is best for international volunteers that want to fully immerse themselves in the Brazilian culture and have a first-hand Portuguese language experience. Volunteers can always choose apartment rental if they want to.
