Volunteer Abroad in Argentina - Continuing Education for Adults with Voluntario Global

Country: Argentina

Program type: Education

Program Name: Volunteer Abroad - Continuing Education for Adults in Argentina

Organization: Voluntario Global

Description:  Students at the community center are adults who did not have the opportunity to finish high school education due to many reasons such as starting work early to support families, early parenthood and so on. The goal of this volunteer abroad project is to teach them basic material in a workshop environment where they feel comfortable.

Computer classes are the most popular subjects whre students need the most help, work in excel, word and general computer proficiency will be the areas of main interest. Adults prefer learning on a one-on-one basis, as it is more comfortable for them. Therefore, volunteers will experience this type of individual teaching style which will be very helpful for volunteers themselves, as it is a great experience to have.

Highlights: Volunteers will need to have patience with the students, but should always remember that the students are hard working people and willing to use this second chance at completing their high school education. This process is a two-way process, where not only students but volunteers as well improve their teaching skills, while gaining even more knowledge in specific topics. It is a learning experience for both the teacher and the student as you take help them improve and get better at what you are studying with each and every day.  The more you learn about your student, the closer a personal connection you will have with him.  The job title is “teacher,” but to your student you will be an open-minded friend.

When you are not teaching English or working individually with students, Voluntario Global can help you find fun adventures around the lively city of Buenos Aires.  We provide a complete network of support while you are here.  The best part of  volunteering in Buenos Aires is getting to see the city and meet its people.
