Program Name: Volunteer Abroad - Teaching English in Thailand with MICATZ
Organization: Maasai International Challenge Africa (MICATZ)
About MICATZ: MICA is a non-profit organization which is located in Arusha, Tanzania and managed by volunteers from all over the world. MICA specializes in providing volunteer abroad programs in developing countries in Africa and Asia! MICA organizes international programs for students, groups, individuals, and virtually anyone interested in going abroad and making a difference.
MICA offers a wide range of affordable and unique projects such as teaching English abroad, working at orphanages, healthcare and medical internships overseas, community development projects, women assistance programs, as well as conservation volunteer programs.
Highlights: If you would like to teach English in Thailand, now is the time to apply. MICATZ is looking for dedicated, adventurous individuals to volunteer abroad and teach for the new school term. MICATZ has been placing interested individuals in English-teaching volunteer abroad projects for more than five years, and we are strong supporters of English education in Thailand.
English is vital as a second language in Thailand, as it enables individuals to enter post-secondary education with ease and find better employment opportunities. Not all students have access to English education, however. These students are most often found in rural, remote areas that are far from the capital. They could greatly benefit from the time and commitment of a knowledgeable volunteer instructor who is willing to share their language and culture.
MICATZ provides volunteers with basic ELS training, in the areas of philosophy, techniques, and methods so that they may have the proper tools and preparation to deliver effective and enjoyable lessons to their students. During the course of their volunteer abroad experience, volunteers will be able to contact Dragonfly staff with any questions they may run into, and to share ideas and work through difficulties.
In the past, projects in this area have focused purely on ESL teaching. However, in the future we may acquire resources that allow us to organize projects based around other subjects as well, such as technology, arts, or other foreign languages.
