Kenya-Destination Spots

Kenya has so many places to visit, that it is a traveler’s dream. Mountains, beaches, animal reserves and national parks are some of Kenya’s most favorite attractions.

The Masai Mara

The Masai Mara is a large park reserve located in southwestern Kenya. It connected to Tanzania's Serengeti National Park game reserve. The park is famous for the animals that live there. At Masai Mara, visitors can see zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and wildebeest, as well as black rhinoceros (which is a severely endangered species) Hippopotami, and Cheetah. There are also two species of giraffe, hyena, and various African birds. The entire reserve is over 25,000 square kilometers, and is a must see for all international visitors. The beautiful landscape and incredible wildlife are some of the main reasons people love to travel to Kenya.

Nakuru

Nakuru is the capital of the Rift Valley Province, and is located northeast of Nairobi. It is Kenya’s fourth largest town, and is a fabulous place to visit. Lake Nakuru National Park is home to thousands of flamingoes, which can be seen wading in the lake. Nakuru also has the Merengai Crater, which is a dormant volcano, various safari tours, and lots of souvenir shops. Nakuru is also a sports center, hosting cricket games and an annual rugby festival dubbed "The Great Rift 10-a-side" which brings in teams from all over East Africa to play.

Kisumu

Kisumu is Kenya’s third largest city, and is located right on Lake Victoria, the source of the Nile. There are so many things to do in Kisumu that international travelers feel like they could stay forever. With the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary, a bird sanctuary, and Hippo Point, wildlife seekers will not be disappointed. The Kisumu museum will help to answer any questions visitors may have of the area, and a sunset on the shores of Lake Victoria is not to be missed.

Mt Kenya

Mt Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa (5,199m at the highest peak) is an absolute must. It is preserved by the beautiful Mt. Kenya National Park, which also serves as protection for the area’s biodiversity, water, and scenic beauty. Mt. Kenya caters to all levels of climbers, with both climbing and walking routes. Visitors should not miss a chance to summit this fabulous icon.
