Ecuador-Current Issues

Hunger is one of the main issues for people living in poorer sections of Ecuador. The access to food for poor people is very low, and reliance on imports for some basic foods makes it a lot tougher on low income families to live a decent lifestyle. Similar to most Latin American countries, inequality is another major problem contributing to hunger in Ecuador. Questionable government policy widens the gap between rich and poor. Interning and studying abroad are some of the ways of sharing your time and personal experiences with others, who are in need of this support. Ecuador’s greatest pride is its beautiful natural resources, although due to extensive pollution from oil production waste, the environment is becoming damaged. Natural habits of species only found in Ecuador are being compromised by industrial production. Participating in internship abroad programs about environmental protection will help raise awareness to Ecuador’s ecological problems.
