Costa Rica-Current Issues

Costa Rica is one of the top destination spots for tourists worldwide, but the country itself is stricken with poverty. Disparity among rich and poor exists in this country to this day provides numerous opportunities for volunteers to help some of the poorest and in most need Costa Ricans. In some of the most disadvantaged regions of the country high rates of school drop outs as well as high infant mortality rates are some of the leading social issues that need to be addressed. Time spent in schools with the kids while volunteering abroad in Costa Rica will play a big role in those children’s lives. Teaching and supporting them will create a more stable environment and reflect positively in their daily lives.
