San Carlos of Bariloche

Founded in May of 1902, the city of San Carlos of Bariloche is a famous destination spot among many tourists who come to visit Argentina. With the coming of winter, Cathedral Hill is transformed into one of the biggest ski resorts in South America.

Medieval structures in the city itself provide great opportunities for visitors to enjoy its uniqueness. While visiting San Carlos Bariloche you will get a chance to see the Nahuel Huapi Cathedral, the Chapel of the Immaculate, the Patagonia Museum, and other historic monuments that are scattered all over the city. Another very popular attraction for visitors is the Nahuel Huapi National Park, whose wildlife and fabulous flora provides great place to relax and be closer to the nature. Numerous water activities are available as well; visiting neighboring islands is one of the more popular.

Iguassu National Park

One of the most breathtaking scenes a visitor can see in this part of the world is the Iguassu Falls. One of the natural wonders of the world, Iguassu Falls is a must see. The falls are located on the border of three countries - Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Iguassu River takes its source near the Atlantic coast of Brazil, south of Sao Paulo, and flows into the continent in a western direction for about 1320 km. The width of the river near the waterfall is about 4 km and falls down a crescent shape cliff.  Sunlight adds the finishing touches, creating a shimmering rainbow. 275 waterfalls from Iguassu River form an incredible view for the visitors.

Both sides of the waterfall has been declared by Brazil and Argentina as national parks. The portion of the park  within Argentine territory protects 2,000 species of plants and 400 species of birds, including uncountable amounts of subtropical vegetation that surrounds the falls.

Valdes Peninsula

Originally discovered by Fernando Magellan in 1520, the Valdes Peninsula, is a great opportunity for visitors to enjoy whale watching. This event  is a  rare opportunity anywhere else around the globe and is available to the public from May to December. Among other rare sea creatures you might be able to see are orcas, different types of dolphins, elephant seals, sea lions, penguins and a variety of marine birds.

Around the peninsula, visitors will have plenty to do in the neighboring towns like Puerto Madryn Trelew, Pirámides Port, and Punta Delgada. In the city of Trelew, the most populated in the region, you can visit one of the most important paleontological museums in South America. Puerto Madryn is considered the scuba diving capital of Argentina and whether you are a pro or never scuba dived before you will have a memorable experience. This whole region used to be a Welsh colony, therefore it is very interesting and unique to come here and experience the side of Argentina you might not see in Buenos Aires or other places.
